Individuals qualify as elite athletes if they participate in individual or team sports that are regularly practiced under the guidance of a coach within clubs or organizations that focus on sports competition.
Note that this applies to anyone aged 16 and older. For example, a 16-year-old who trains intensively and competes regularly must have separate coverage, even if they train and compete alongside full-time studies or work.
However, this restriction does not apply to general public participation in training and competitions for golf, road cycling, road or cross-country running, and other sports where the public can participate without special requirements.
Those who participate in competitions or train for competitions in elite sports need to take out special insurance, such as Accident Insurance.
