All vehicles covered under comprehensive policies include off-road coverage that applies during search and rescue operations. Examples of compensable damage include:

Storm damage without wind speed limits

Damage from blowing soil or sand

Damage to a vehicle falling through ice

Damage to the undercarriage if the vehicle bottoms out on rough terrain

It is essential to properly manage the equipment and assets owned by rescue teams. Team assets can be divided into three insurance categories:

Comprehensive asset insurance for sudden and unforeseen external damage. This coverage should be considered alongside additional equipment insurance.

Asset insurance covering fire, water, and burglary damage, anywhere in Iceland

Asset insurance for the rescue team’s command center, intended for equipment stored indoors that does not leave the premises.

Note that special attention should be given to the insured amounts for rescue team assets.

Hull and vessel insurance cover registered heavy machinery, trailers, and small boats. When purchasing such equipment, it’s essential to contact us to arrange insurance, as Sjóvá does not automatically receive purchase notifications for these items (unlike vehicles, for instance).

Hull insurance for boats is crucial as it covers both damage to the boat itself and various liability damages that may arise from its use.
