Mandatory Vehicle Insurance
All registered motor vehicles in Iceland are obliged by law to be covered by Mandatory Vehicle Insurance. It compensates damage caused by your vehicle as well as accidents and injuries to the owner and the driver sustained when driving the vehicle. If the damage totals more than 100,000 ISK, then you pay a premium surcharge of 27,000 ISK.
Windshield Insurance
This is a part of the Mandatory Vehicle Insurance, but you are not obliged to buy it. However, we strongly recommend this insurance since this is one of the most common damages to cars in Iceland. The insurance compensates damages to all car windows, including cost of installation or repair if that is possible. If repairing the windshield is a better option, we compensate fully. Otherwise your deductible is 20% of the cost.
Comprehensive Collision Insurance
We are proud to offer the most extensive CCI in Iceland. The insurance covers damages to your vehicle for example in case of an accident, theft of the vehicle or parts of it, break-in or vandalism and damages due to fire.
